One thing Jana Design has never been accused of is being "afraid of color." Once you have taken the time to look at our photo gallery (custom details, color) you will probably agree. It is Jana’s goal to help her clients find all the colors within them.
Sometimes WHITE (excuse the expression) is just what is needed but we believe even a muted color scheme should be a choice made rather than a fear based reaction.
There is a perfect color palette for every space. Your home, workplace, bedroom, kitchen… should make you feel warm, calm, cool, happy, romantic, productive… What ever it is YOU want to feel. When we come to your space we talk to you about your feelings for your environment and then work with you choose a color or series of colors that will transform your space. Just like when you find colors that look best on you for your wardrobe. When we design your palette we arrive at a set of color swatches to use when shopping for furniture, window treatments and accessories.
There are several ways we can work with you to develop perfect color choices:
ONE INITIAL VISIT (2-3 hours) and on call as you need us:
- First, we arrive with a huge set of the biggest paint swatches you have
ever seen. It really helps when you can SEE the colors
- We look at what you are working with or start with clues based on
things you have that give you the emotional response you desire. We
have designed color schemes based on a vase of roses, a kid’s love of
the Lakers, a painting, even a favorite towel.
- Then, we leave you with samples of the colors that interest you the
most.
A second visit (1-1/2-2 hours):
We prepare 11”x 17” color samples of your choices and strategically place them around the room, office or home. We space them so that you will be able to respond to them and see how they relate to other rooms and coordinate with your furnishings. It is important to keep the samples up, move them around and experience them at different times of the day and night, with different light.
Sometimes this process leads to some changes but it is much wiser to make changes before you have purchased gallons or hired your painters.
A COLOR PLAN (1.5-3 hours):
Often the selection of a color scheme includes a series of colors carefully plotted to work together as a group. We will make a ground plan of the space and literally map the colors and the order numbers. It is fun for you to start to see how the color will move. More importantly, whether you use our painters (we love our painters!) or your own it will help you plan the work and have a flawless finished product.
Our team of painters is especially well trained to follow these maps and have the technical skill do most of the wall techniques we plan. (we think you will love them, too!)
THE FLAWLESS FINISH (1-4 hours):
Once the priming and preparation is done we have the most fun, yet. We paint samples of the colors on each wall. We try to have it ready for you to see overnight and then first thing in the morning. It is a final check for all of us and a there is nothing like a fool proof plan.
We are pretty serious about our color work!
